At Leap Dance Midlands, we are a supportive and inclusive dance school offering ballet, tap, modern, street, commercial, musical theatre, and Acrobatic Arts (acro) classes. Our lessons follow syllabi from world-renowned dance organisations, designed by industry professionals, so every class is high-quality, creative and current.
Children can join classes in Anslow, Hilton, Melbourne, and Tutbury, with adult ballet also available in Melbourne, Derbyshire.

We teach Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, ISTD tap and modern, I-Path street and commercial dance, lyrical and jazz and musical theatre and Acrobatic Arts acrobatic children’s dance lessons. We also teach toddlers dance classes and adult ballet dance classes.

What age can they start from?
Our classes start from age one upwards. Do you offer trial classes?
We offer a two-week children’s dance trial so your child has time to settle in, feel welcomed and supported, and get a real feel for our classes before making a decision. They can even try out different styles during their trial to discover which one (or more!) they enjoy the most. Toddler dance and children’s dance trial classes are available in Anslow, Hilton, Melbourne and Tutbury.

Anslow Classes

Children’s Dance Lessons
Our children’s dance classes include Royal Academy of Dance ballet and ISTD and I-Path tap, modern, jazz and musical theatre, street and commercial and acrobatic dance by Acrobatic Arts. We follow the syllabus of the RAD and ISTD and I-Path Tap and Modern, the world’s most influential and respected dance organisations, known for their professional standards and high quality teaching. Our acrobatic classes follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus and we are an Acrobatic Arts certified studio.
Classes are designed to be age-appropriate, creative, and confidence-building, and include performance opportunities, workshops and themed choreography to help every child develop performance skills, self-expression and self confidence and a love of dance.
Adult Dance Lessons
Our Adult dance classes include Ballet Be Fit and Adult Ballet and Adult Tap, providing a fun and engaging way to stay fit, build confidence, and enjoy dance. Classes are taught by professionally qualified RAD teachers, trained in Silver Swans and are suitable for all abilities. Our adult dance lessons are in Melbourne and online. We believe dance is for everyone.

We teach a range of dance styles at our dance and performing arts school to create confident dancers with an extensive repertoire of dance skills.
What classes do we teach?
We have classes for toddlers and their grown ups in our Little Leapers classes plus Preschool classes, Primary and Junior classes in Melbourne and Hilton in Derbyshire and Anslow and Tutbury in Staffordshire.
Age 0-4 years

Little Leapers
We have a Toddler class called Little Leapers. Plus preschool ballet, creative dance and tap classes.
Little Leapers is for children aged 1, 2 and 3 with their grown up and is a fun and friendly class that is an introduction to the joys of dance, music and song. This gives you the perfect opportunity to bond with your child whilst getting fit and meeting new parents and grandparents.

Preschool Classes
These classes for children ready to join in without their grown up. This is a creative movement class, usually from aged 2.5- 3 upwards. This class gives your child an introduction to the movements that develop into dance steps. This class uses props, themes and imaginative dance to develop your child’s imagination, creativity and confidence.

Age 4-6 years
Primary Class
Our Primary class is for children aged 4-6 years and includes ballet, tap and modern dance. We also have an acrobatics class the children can join.
Our Primary class is for children in reception and year 1 and includes ballet, tap and modern dance. The Primary class includes ballet and tap following the Royal Academy of Dance and ISTD and I-Path syllabus with free creative modern dance. This class allows the children to learn a range of dance styles including ballet, tap, and modern developing technical skills, confidence and creativity in dance. As well as exam work we do lots of creative free work and workshops within our classes to inspire and develop your child’s imagination.
We also have an acrobatics class the children can join, we follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, the world’s most trusted acrodance syllabus. Acrodance includes stretching and flexibility, balancing, limbering and tumbling.
We have a Musical Theatre class the children can join in which includes drama, singing and modern dance. It’s an all round Performing Arts class which develops their self-confidence and performance skills.
We have a Mini Street Dance class for this age group where they learn all the latest moves and musical styles in this fun and active class. From popping and locking to high-energy choreography, your child will master the coolest moves inspired by street dance and commercial hip hop.

Age 7-9 years
Our Junior and Intermediate classes include ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre. We also have an acrobatics class.
Junior Class 7+
The Junior class is for children aged 7 and above, usually from year 2 upwards. We continue to follow the exam syllabus of the RAD and ISTD and I-Path dance organisations. The Junior classes are a combination class including ballet, tap, modern, character and musical theatre. This allows the children to experience a range of different dance styles and is designed to allow them to perform with confidence and creativity. As well as exam work we do lots of creative free work and workshops within our classes to inspire and develop your child’s imagination and ability to learn and try new choreography.
There is also an acrobatics class for this age group. We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, the world’s most trusted acrodance syllabus. It includes flexibility, balance and tumbling and complements many other dance styles.
We have a Musical Theatre class where the children can learn drama, singing and modern dance. It’s an all round Performing Arts class which develops their self-confidence and performance skills.
We have a Street and Commercial hip hop class suitable for this age as well as beginners. The children learn street moves including popping and locking to high-energy choreography inspired by street dance and commercial hip hop. It’s a very expressive class and helps to build confidence, self-expression and positivity by expressing themselves in a fun way.

Intermediate Classes 9+
Our newest class for our oldest dancers usually aged 9 and above. We focus on more advanced dance syllabus and technique. The class includes RAD ballet and ISTD and I-Path tap and modern and is suitable for children aged 9 and above. This class is a combination class and includes ballet, tap, modern, character and musical theatre. The class includes an introduction to different modern dance styles including street, lyrical and contemporary dance. This allows the children to experience a range of different dance styles and is designed to allow them to develop their self confidence and performance skills.
We also have an acrobatics class the children can join, we follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, the world’s most trusted acrodance syllabus. Acrodance includes stretching and flexibility, balancing, limbering and tumbling.

As a new school we have beginners dance classes, so if your child has always wanted to try dancing, they will be welcomed to our classes.
We enjoy teaching boys and girls in all of our classes and actively encourage boys to join our classes so if you have a boy who is looking for dance lessons, do get in touch. We promise to give you a warm welcome.

We also have a class just for toddlers and their grown ups called Little Leapers. It’s a fun, interactive and engaging dance, music and movement class designed especially for toddlers and young children and their grown ups
Adult Dance Classes
Our adult dance classes are online and are a fun dance workout with a friendly and supportive group. Our classes are taught by an accredited Ballet Be Fit Instructor, Silver Swans trained Teacher and RAD Qualified Teacher.
Our adult’s classes include Adult Ballet and Adult Tap as well as Ballet Be Fit Midlands- an exercise class inspired by ballet.
Ballet Be Fit helps improve posture, balance, coordination and fitness levels. It consists of barre work, cardio and strengthening and conditioning exercises in a safe and supportive environment. Ballet Be Fit Midlands is a Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) accredited programme.
We also teach Adult Ballet and Tap classes are taught by a Silver Swans trained Teacher and a Royal Academy of Dance Qualified Teacher. Our ballet and tap class is designed just for adults. It’s for beginners who have always wanted to try ballet or tap as well as adults who have danced before and want to return to dance classes.
All of our classes are friendly, supportive and encouraging inclusive classes. Using Royal Academy of Dance technique and syllabus with free creative choreography. Taught by an RAD qualified dance teacher, known and recognised internationally for its professional standards.

Adult’s Classes

Our adult dance classes include Adult Ballet, Adult Tap, and Ballet Be Fit Midlands — a fun, ballet-inspired fitness class.
Classes are held in Melbourne Derbyshire, and are taught by a Silver Swans trained teacher and RAD-qualified instructor.
Our Ballet Be Fit Midlands class is a CIMSPA-accredited programme, combining barre work, cardio, and strengthening exercises in a safe, supportive environment.

🏆 Do pupils have to take exams?
Exams are optional. We offer Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and ISTD syllabus classes and take exams and awards, but every child progresses at their own pace.
