We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new dance classes in Melbourne! At Leap Dance Midlands, we believe in providing high quality lessons in a safe and supportive environment. Exciting Children’s Dance Lessons in Melbourne

We are passionate about nurturing young talent and inspiring a love for dance from an early age. Our children’s dance classes are designed to be fun, engaging, and educational.

Our preschool classes include ballet, dance and creative movement classes for preschoolers. They are 4-4:45pm on Thursdays.

Our Primary class is for school aged children and includes ballet, tap and modern. They are 4:45-5;45pm on Thursdays.

Our dance classes offer a supportive introduction to movement and music, helping children develop coordination, balance, and social skills in a supportive environment.

All our classes are taught by qualified dance teachers using the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and technique. We are Acrobatic Arts trained and certified and Ballet Be Fit qualified Instructors. We have enhanced DBS, are first aid trained, SEND and Safeguarding trained and are fully insured. We are so excited to bring this brand new class to Leap Dance Midlands. A brand new Musical Theatre Performing Arts class on Saturdays in Willington, near Burton On Trent and Derby. Musical Theatre combines drama, song and dance in a fun and fast paced class.

This extra special Musical Theatre (Drama, singing, dance) class teaches acting skills, singing and dance to create a Performing Arts experience using popular children’s musicals we know they will enjoy.

We will learn about the exciting and magical world of musical theatre and bring more singing, acting and dance to Leap Dance Midlands.

Festive fun at Leap Dance

What a fun way to end the year at Leap Dance Midlands. The children enjoyed a fun disco with party games including the limbo, snowman competition, snowball fight. Children from all of our classes came and dance together and we were so pleased to see the older children looking after the younger children and everyone mixing and making new friends at this fun event.

We also have a range of fun activities during the year at Leap including our summer shows, our fun film party with popcorn, where we watch a musical and jump up and sing and dance along with the film!

So as well as offering dance classes from our very special Little Leapers toddler class, to our ballet, tap, modern and acrobatics classes for children in Anslow, Tutbury and Willington. Plus starting soon in Melbourne. We have so many wonderful things the children and their families can be part of at Leap Dance Midlands.

Danceathon for Help for Hannah

We are really excited to do our first danceathon to raise money for a local girl called Hannah who is from Willington. Hannah has been diagnosed with brain cancer and although she has had the cancer removed it is still growing. There is no funding for the next part of her treatment on the NHS so her family have to raise the funds to take her to the USA for her treatment.

I got to know her family whilst helping choreograph a dance routine for her Dad and his friends over the summer. I thought a danceathon would be a fun way for our school to raise money towards her treatment.

We will do a 5-10 minute (depending on their age) continuous dance in our classes and if the children manage to dance without stopping they will successfully complete the danceathon challenge.

The danceathon will be on Friday 13^th and Saturday 14^th October in the children’s usual classes.

It will be lots of fun for the children to take part. Care will be taken when talking to the children about her illness and treatment and will just say that she is ill and needs our help and I thought we could do what we do best and dance for her.

She may even come along and see them dancing or her Mum and Dad (who might want to join in as he has got a taste for dancing now and has asked me to help choreograph a routine for their Christmas fundraiser!).

Progression Opportunities at Leap Dance Midlands

We wanted to share the progressions and opportunities available at Leap Dance Midlands. We offer so many new and exciting opportunities at each stage of your child’s development. To find out more please do get in touch about any of the opportunities for your child.

Toddlers to Preschoolers

Our toddlers in our Little Leapers class move up to our Preschool classes when they are ready to come and dance independently with us. Our preschool class is a mixture of ballet, movement and tap dance where they develop a wide range of physical skills as well as social, communication and interaction skills too.

Reception Age

Then when our dancers start school they can join our Primary Class which includes Royal Academy of Dance ballet and ISTD tap dancing too.

We also offer an extra modern dance class which is ideal for children who enjoy performing and learning different styles of dance and enjoy jumping, turning and leaping to different styles of modern music. It really is lots of fun!

They can also join our acrobatics class which works on flexibility, balance, tumbling and limbering skills and acrobatic tricks. It also develops strength and flexibility and complements the other dance styles that we teach.

They can also join our Performance Group and take part and dance at local events, schools and fetes. This is great for their self confidence and they have lots of fun dancing with their friends and enjoying the fetes and carnivals together as a team.

Junior Age

As the children move into Junior school they can join the older grades of RAD and ISTD ballet, tap and modern.

They are also welcome to be a Class Helper and support the younger children in their classes. This helps them learn new skills, grow in confidence and the younger children love having a role model to look up to.

Our oldest class is the Intermediate Class where the students learn more advanced RAD ballet and ISTD tap and modern with musical theatre.

The students can become Class Assistants as well as Trainee Dance Teachers with our special training programme to grow and develop our students.

Whether the children want to attend one class a week or be part of everything we offer, we aim to give them all the biggest welcome and support throughout their dance journey with us at Leap Dance Midlands.

Summer show

Dance show Anslow Tutbury and Willington

We are really excited as our four shows start very soon and we are looking to welcoming our families and friends to come and watch our dancers perform.

Performing in dance shows provides so many benefits to your child. It develops team work, friendships, it builds their self confidence, creates a sense of discipline and gives them a great sense of achievement. They get to learn new things, explore new music and dance styles, work with others and then practice to make improvements every time.

Being in a dance show creates magical memories which can last a lifetime. It also creates a sense of pride about what they have created together and want to share with their families.

Performing also develops a wide range of life skills. It develops dedication, commitment, determination, time keeping, a sense of responsibility getting themselves ready and remembering all their costume items.

Dancing in a show also develops performance skills, musicality and brings a community of dancers together to perform and be part of the Leap Dance Midlands dance community. We cannot wait to welcome you to our shows this June in Anslow.

Performance Group

Our new Performance Group has been really busy entertaining people at local events over the last few weekends.

All the children from Primary and upwards are invited to be part of our Performance Group. It was designed to give the children opportunities to perform and shine.

We have already seen a huge increase in their confidence since we started the group. Even our shyest and quietest children performed full of self belief and glowing confidence.

The group performed at the Tutbury Castle Coronation celebration in front of a crowd of up to 2000 people! We were so proud of them as they weren’t fazed at all. They danced beautifully, full of smiles in the basking heat.

The next day they performed at the Etwall Parish Council event in the rain, but this didn’t stop them. They performed twice and were full of smiles both times. This showed just how versatile they were. Dance and performance really develops such a range of skills.

We also had a lovely day at the Church Broughton May Day celebrations. This was our first time the children from different classes had danced together but the children did a fantastic job,

We are looking forward to more performances this Summer, so do come and say hello and show them your support by cheering them on.

New Class- Acrobatic Dance

We are really excited to bring Acrobatics to Leap Dance Midlands. We recently completed a thorough training programme and are now certified as an Acrobatic Arts Studio. We cannot wait to start this new class and introduce it to our timetable. Classes will be on Saturdays in Willington and after school in Tutbury.

Acrobatic Arts is a professional curriculum for Acrodance. It promotes flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering, tumbling and partner and group stunts.

Acrodance is a fusion of the artistic motion of dance combined with the athleticism of acrobatics. It will help develop our dancers strength and flexibility and will enhance the dance styles they are already learning.

We chose Acrobatic Arts as it is a thorough and progressional based syllabus programme for teaching Acrodance. The carefully thought out progressions allow the dancers to be properly trained and advance to the next level only when they are ready for it. This creates more technically correct work and helps the dancers progress and greatly reduces the risk of injury.
