March Updates

What an exciting March we are having! All the children have been working hard learning new steps and exercises from the Royal Academy of Dance ballet and ISTD tap and modern examination syllabus in class.

We have also been being creative and encouraging the children to choreograph their own dances and movements, even our preschoolers have been joining in, creating our dance stories about playing in the snow and going to the circus!

Some of our children have been performing in their in class tests and have moved up as they have done so well and are ready to progress and leap into their older groups- well done!

Our newest Performance Group has started and we already have bookings for May and beyond. This will be such a great opportunity for the children to entertain and perform and really helps boost their self confidence as well as being part of a friendly dance team together. Do look out for our performances locally and come and support us!

Our Film Party is on 25th March for Primary and above. It is a chance to get together and socialise together, plus we get to sing dance along to the film! It will be a fun time and will be lots of fun.

With so many things to look forward to over the next few months Spring is guaranteed to be a fun time at Leap Dance Midlands. Come back to find out what we are up to next!

The benefits of dance for toddlers and preschoolers

Children love to dance to music but as well as being lots of fun, it also has lots of benefits and aids their learning and development. Here are some of the many benefits dancing with your child has for their growth and development:

It helps develop physical skills

Dance helps develop a huge variety of motor skills. They learn to balance, jump and travel which develops their control and coordination.  Dance and movement is also a healthy physical activity as it is a type of aerobic exercise which is beneficial for overall good health.

Dance stimulates the brain

Children learn new things, like words, sounds and patterns through music. With dance they can explore and learn to control their body movements.  These dance activities are great for their development as they stimulate connections in their growing brain.

It helps develop communication skills

Children love to interact with other toddlers. By joining in a dance and movement class they learn how to interact and connect with others through songs, activities and movements. They develop listening and turn taking skills as well as important social skills that will give them self-confidence and prepare them for school.

Dance allows children to express themselves

Dance is a wonderful way to express their emotions. Even before they can communicate them verbally, they can express themselves through dance and movement. By participating in creative activities They release their emotions and

Dance develops their creativity and imagination

Dance is a physical activity and encourages them to interact, engage with others, move, imagine and pretend. It inspires their imagination and develops their creativity. It encourages them to be curious and imaginative.

Dance encourages learning

Dancing encourages children to imitate, copy, repeat and practice movements. This aids their coordination skills and allows them to explore moving to the rhythm, mood and feeling of music. Dance and songs provide opportunities for memory training and coordination, even at this early age.

So many benefits for your little one to learn and develop in our interactive, fun Little Leapers dance, music and movement y class in Willington, South Derbyshire.

Willington is between Burton and Derby and is really easy to get to from the A50 and A38.

So if you are looking for a toddler or preschooler dance and movement class near Burton and Derby you can do with your child book a trial class with us. You are guaranteed a friendly welcome in our toddler dance and movement group.

Led by a qualified Royal Academy of Dance Teacher trained in child development, learning and safe practice the classes are designed carefully in line with the children’s developmental milestones. Elaine has two children and spends her time off with her younger relatives aged 1-6 who let her try out new ideas and classes with them! So classes are tested and approved by toddlers and preschoolers!

October Dates

World Mental Health Day 2022

We are pleased to be part of World Mental Health in 2022. We will be focusing on one of our core values of ‘being kind’ in all of our classes, with extra friendship games and focusing on being kind to one another. We will talk to the children about how important kindness is and work as a group to help them learn about being supportive to each other.

Our Principal is an advocate of mental health and has received training in Mental Health for children, young people and adults. We feel this is a valuable discussion and focus of our classes to help promote the importance of positive physical and mental health.

We are also looking forward to our popular Halloween themed dance classes later this month. Expect costumes, games and spooky songs and dances! Then we have a half term break, ready to come back in November with some new activities and sessions!

Welcome Back!

September dates!

Welcome back to all our students and their families! We have enjoyed seeing all the children again and restarting our full timetable back again, after our pay as you dance lessons this Summer.

It has been lovely welcoming all of our new students to our classes. We have had such positive feedback about the trials and we are really pleased to welcome you to our dance community. We have lots planned for the next few months which we know you will enjoy being part of.

We have already started working on our Royal Academy of Dance Ballet syllabus and ISTD Tap and Modern exam work. We have been so pleased to see all the hard work and enthusiasm and have been really impressed with how quickly the children are learning the new steps and technique- a huge well done to everyone!

Due to popularity we have started some new classes this term. It has been a great pleasure to introduce a new class for our oldest students teaching more complex Royal Academy of Dance and ISTD syllabus to them. They really have shown determination and focus to master some of the trickiest work.

We have lots of parties, themed classes and fundraisers planned this term and dates will be shared shortly. If you have ideas and suggestions please remember we always welcome your contributions.

Most of all- welcome back everyone- thank you for being part of the wonderful dance community that is Leap Dance Midlands.

Summer Pay as you go classes

Summer classes at Leap Dance Midlands

Our Summer Pay as you go dance classes are back this year!

Join us for ballet, tap and modern this Summer in Willington, Derbyshire and Tutbury, Staffordshire. We know our families are busy enjoying their holidays so we offer a pay as you go scheme in the Summer to give you more flexibility to enjoy the summer!

We also offer trial classes for new children so they can try our dance lessons out before joining us in September. It is a nice way of getting to know us and what we offer in a smaller and quieter environment so they feel more confident ready for September when we reopen.

After our successful shows where the classes performed together we have opened up the classes for both groups so Anslow, Tutbury and Willington can all dance together this Summer.

This will form part of the family and community events we are developing this year, from Family Picnics to Theatre trips. We want our children and their families to be part of our friendly dance community.
