Children’s Classes

Leap Dance Midlands Children’s classes include a range of dance styles. The toddler and grown up classes include dance and musical movement. The younger children’s class are themed to inspire the children’s imaginations and creativity. The older children’s classes include a range of dance styles including ballet, modern, tap and musical theatre and acrobatics. The classes combine examination work with free choreography which develops the children’s sense of performance and self-confidence.

Taught by a taught by a qualified Royal Academy of Dance teacher. Classes are in Hilton and Melbourne in South Derbyshire and Anslow and Tutbury in East Staffordshire.

Exams

We work towards examinations in ballet, modern, tap, acrobatics and musical theatre. The exams are accredited and provide UCAS points (that count toward University). Exams are encouraged as they allow the children to show the hard work they have put in and measure their progress, but not compulsory.

Performances

All students are invited to perform in the school show and demonstrations. Class tests and demonstrations are also held so everyone gets a chance to demonstrate their hard work. We also like to feel part of the local community by performing in local fetes and events.

Workshops

We include free creative work and themed sessions in our classes which encourages and develops a sense of performance, creativity and musicality for all our students.

We are always keen to introduce new dance styles including street dance, lyrical and contemporary dance so that all our students are well rounded performers. We also have guest teachers and workshops that offer students to try a range of new and current dance trends.

Our commitment to ongoing training and improvement has led to us becoming a Rosina Andrews Registered Studio and we have enjoyed offering the Leap Workshop to our children. To find out more about the Rosina Andrews method here: The results are amazing!

Adult’s Classes

Ballet be fit

Ballet Be Fit is a fitness class inspired by ballet. It includes a warm up, barre work, muscular conditioning exercises including the arms and upper body as well as leg and lower body toning exercises. It finishes with stretching and relaxation exercises which means it is also beneficial for overall well-being.

It is a low impact exercise class which means it is suitable for people with health issues as it allows them to participate safely and carefully.

Adult Ballet and Tap

We also offer Pure Ballet classes and Adult Tap dance specifically designed for adults. We follow the technique of the RAD but in a safe and supportive environment where everyone is welcomed and encouraged to blossom and learn ballet steps and choreography. In our tap classes we use fun choreography to upbeat music as well as broadway songs to make it an enjoyable class.

Loving my ballet class with Elaine. These are fab classes to work on flexibility and strength whilst having fun at the same time. Elaine is so welcoming and makes you feel relaxed whilst taking a class. Highly recommended.
